Rules
1. Don't be an asshole.
The most basic, important rule at Paracelsus Academy is don't be an asshole. Don't talk to people in a way that you wouldn't want to be talked to yourself and respect their right to roleplay and tell stories how they like. This is our catch-all rule to handle behavior that we feel is inappropriate, but not covered in the specific rules. Everyone is here to have fun. Don't get in the way of that.
2. All RP at Paracelsus Academy is consent-based.
While this is a game where powerful stunts and spectacle are welcomed and encouraged, remember that your character's actions can't impact other characters without their consent. Your character may be able to change someone's shape, kill someone with an explosive fireball, or even give hypnotic suggestions, but you must have OOC permission before your character does these things. Similarly, you should never state another character's reaction while RPing with them. If someone would prefer to not do something with their character, you should always respect that.
3. Tag your posts.
Tag every post your character is in. Your character's tag is their first name and their last name; the first name can be a common nickname. If you don't make one up, the mods will. You should also tag with the date. Tags are how we keep track of things. They are your friend. When they happen, joy is always happening.
Always.
4. Activity Check (AC) will be held every month.
Every month, on or around the 1st, we will post AC for the prior month. Everyone must reply for each of their characters. To pass AC, you must have one of the following:
When AC is posted, you have to provide links to these posts. If you fail to post to AC, you will fail AC for that month.
You can be excused from AC for a month if the majority of the month was spent on a hiatus announced on the community. If you have a hiatus that would last past one month, please contact the mods.
If you fail AC two months in a row, you will have to drop the character. Repeated AC fails or showing barely enough activity to pass AC without a show of good faith to engage in the game could lead to expulsion from the game at the mods' discretion.
Given the size and activity of the game, the mods have elected to go without AC for the time being. We may change this later, but there is no reason for the added pressure. However, not tagging in at all for longer than two months can result in a character being dropped at the mods' discretion.
5. NC-17 content doesn't count towards AC.
You can write smut if you want. However, it will not count towards AC. If you only want to RP sex, there are better games for that. We do insist all NC-17 logs be clearly labeled with warnings, locked to members of the community, and put behind a cut.
6. Use proper English.
Aside from when it is in character (such as usenet posts), please use proper English. We are not interested in translating your RP from leet-speak!
7. Healing and death have consequences.
Healing magic can restore nearly any wound, given enough time. Even the most grievous injury can be healed with little scarring (though complications can sometimes cause it), though it may take days or weeks. As a result, you should feel free to have dramatic and life-threatening fights that cause real injuries if you want to.
However, death is permanent at Paracelsus Academy. Spells that bring the dead back to life are impossible; attempts to do so tend to cause horrible side effects and always fail. If you kill your character, they won't be coming back to life.
You're free to kill your character if you want. However, please inform the mods prior to doing so. The death of a student would be a serious event with an effect on the tone of the game, and we will want to manage that thoughtfully.
8. The mods have the final say over everything.
As it says. The mods are where the buck stops, and can act as they feel is necessary to preserve the game and make sure everyone is having fun.

4. Activity Check (AC) will be held every month.
- Do two logs; posted e-mail logs or threaded logs both count.
- Do one log and post five or more comments in one usenet thread.
- Post five or more comments in three different usenet threads.
