Character Application

[paracelsus_mods]

Players can have a max of four characters. The game is focused around students at the academy, so we prefer the vast majority of characters be students. That said, if you want to play a non-magical character who lives in Longpike or works at the school, you can but the application will be scrutinized carefully. Non-magical characters may not receive the same opportunities as students in event posts, given the nature and focus of the game.

We prefer that people not play teachers as major characters, to keep the game's focus squarely on the students. We have an NPC application for teachers here.

This looks fine, by and large, but we have one revision we need and a couple of points we feel are worth clarifying while on the subject!

Namely, a large part of Natalia's background is that her father was disgusted with her and arranged her Sealing partner to remove her and gain an alliance. The Sealing doesn't actually work like this: a group of House elders selects Sealing partners without the influence of the rest of the House, and if anything is done regarding parents' wishes, it is usually punitive. This is largely to Vorinus's will and whims, allegedly to insure the power of the Vorinsky line is passed on best. In general, parents don't set or even terribly influence this process (except to be punished for causing trouble for the House). While bribes might happen, they would be very much on the down-low because it could destabilize the House, and it wouldn't be suitable material for making an alliance.

You'll need to revise it accordingly, where her father did not set her Sealing partner.

There are a couple minor points. It's absolutely fine if her father didn't like the way she won (or the reactions of other Vorinskies), but there aren't rules that the Sealing must be an honorable and fair fight in front of relatives. Whether there are witnesses and the location of the fight is generally left to the families to hash out. But, if she angered her father and some family members with how she won her Sealing, she wouldn't have angered the House elders.

Secondly, you can give her guns if you want her to have them! If you do, usually possessing a gun Paracelsus requires some forms and usually a "donation" to the school from the House in question. If you'd prefer her to have a crossbow for style reasons, that's also okay.
