Investigator Character Application

At the start of Phase 2, investigators will be sent to Paracelsus Academy and Longpike to determine the truth of Otto von Schellenberg's death. They have also been sent as a part of House-sponsored teams, who are to look into the rumors of the existence of the Key and sealed doors. If it exists, they are to secure it for their House. These teams are sent by three sets of houses:

  • House Patisse and House Castillo: This team is sent to find out the extent to which Otto von Schellenberg was attempting to target them, and whether he head support from House Weatherford and House Schellenberg. While they want to find out the exact circumstances of his death, they are more concerned with making sure his scheme is dead. Their staff coordinator Guillaume Patisse, a freshly arrived teacher who took over Otto's post.
  • House Schellenberg and House Weatherford: This team is concerned first and foremost with determining whether Otto was framed and if anyone was behind his actions. They also want, if they determine he was guilty, to determine (quietly) if he was working anyone else. Their staff coordinator is Sarah-Beth Weatherford.
  • House Vorinsky: This team was sent on the orders of Lord Vorinus, ostensibly to act as a neutral party. As their leader is Mircea Vorinsky, it is also tasked with interfering with anything Sarah-Beth might have planned. Unlike the other teams, they are much more concerned about the Key.

Investigators belong to Interpol's Special Irkallan Crimes Unit (SICU). Most investigators have worked together in the past and probably know each other. They can be open about their identities or function as undercover agents, working as teachers. Their staff coordinators are not SICU agents, but rather unofficial House allies. SICU agents are well-paid professionals, and considered to be one of the highest end law enforcement jobs available.

Investigators should be between 25 and 75 years of age; they are experienced journeymen, and quite powerful, but not movers and shakers in House politics. They should be viewed as boss fights, should they fight students on equal footing: a team of three to four students should be a threat to them. One student might beat them if they are very lucky.

In general, investigators should be loyal to their House. This doesn't need to be a blind loyalty, but these people were selected because it was felt -- rightly or wrongly -- that they will put House interests first. We are fine with them not doing so, but we would prefer that concepts stick away from loose cannons with no interest in serving their House, who will betray those Houses within a week or two.

The game's protagonists remain students! This doesn't mean you can't enjoy and use your investigator, but some mod events will simply be tailored for involvement by students and won't be open to investigators. We'll also have some events that are investigator-only.

NOTE: Investigator applications won't be approved until Week #19, when Phase 2 is expected to begin.
